Bonjour from Mallorca!
I am continuing our journey with just my brother and sister, on the roads towards Port de Pollenca on the east coast.
We decided to take the pretty route through small villages such as Biniaraix and Fornalutx instead of the highway. We love visiting the island in winter. The roads are so tiny that we are so glad to not be amongst the waves of tourists! Parking is also much easier without the crowds, though not that easy in the narrow streets, leaving that job to my brother, who is accustomed to parking in Paris!
I still admire the citrus trees we find everywhere and that really bring gorgeous colors to the landscape. We started to see more and more cyclists on the roads, which made me look even more forward to the following week.
We discovered by car what we would do by bike soon…when taking the turn to Sa Calobra. The road was already pretty impressive, until one specific turn that made me say “Oh putain!”, as you could get a wider overview of all the tiny turns the road had to offer. We had had a good preview on the gps, but seeing it live created the wow effect!
Once you are at the beach, the infrastructure is sadly not the prettiest but the sea and surrounding mountains are worth the detour.
I can’t wait to have breakfast overlooking the sea… more news tomorrow!
